Despacito was first released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in the year 2017 and was the top-streamed track within 6 months. The single Despacito, which combines pop music with reggaeton, not only brought new interest to reggaeton but also sparked interest in Latin music. The Billboard Top 100 included four mostly Spanish tracks in 2016 and two songs in 2015. In the height of Despacito's chart-topping success in 2017, 19 songs mainly in Spanish were in the top 100. It climbed to 41 in 2020. Justin Bieber's bilingual remix Despacito came out in the year 2017. Soon after, popular artists started collaborating with reggaeton performers. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny for MIA (2018), and Madonna was a part of Maluma to create Medellin. In the year 2020, some Reggaeton performers were expressing displeasure about the advancing of the genre towards the mainstream. However, a younger generation such as Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the trend going. He incorporated electronic dance styles as well as other styles into his music.
