Carey is a former top model in fashion who measured at nearly 5'10", was popular with American fashion houses like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father was a prominent geologist and named Scientist in 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. The father of Carey was a scientist who travelled across the globe as part of his profession. After she graduated from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, she began to do modeling as a side. The idea caught the attention of an agent from Ford Model Agency New York. After moving to France, where she briefly lived in Paris, Bordeaux and New York She decided to return to New York and continue her studies. Then, Vogue, Glamour and other magazines included her on the covers. In between modeling assignments she was enrolled in literature full time in New York University. As she studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse, New York, her enthusiasm for the field grew. In 1986, she made her debut as an actor with a small part in "Club Paradise" in the film "Club Paradise" with Robin Williams. Her hobbies include doing white-water rafting, skiing, rock climbing, and wind-surfing.
